First e-mail was from music lover Frank Pettis. He was surprised that people are not lined up around the block for the $100 trivia contest, 9:30 Wednesday nights at the Crystal Lounge on Beech Daly and Joy Roads. Frank, who won last week was the first contestant to get all 8 questions correct.

Got an e-mail from War Machine, Detroit's best KISS tribute band, they played at the Westland Summer Fest and will now perform at the Kiss Expo. This national Kiss event will be Sunday, August 10, 11AM till 7PM at the Metro Airport Double Tree Hotel. Located at I-94 and Merriman Road Exit 31500 Wick Road in Romulus. Heard from Laurie Palazzolo. she would like to let everyone know about Detroit area musician legend, Stas' Wisniach, who now lives in Farmington and entertains three nights a week at Luigi's. Mr. Wisniach is an 80-year-old Polish-American musician, and a veteran of the industry. Having been a professional musician for 71 years he is a proud part of the archives of the Smithsonian Institution and is recognized by his colleagues as the greatest accordionist ever to have emerged from Detroit.

Heard from Matt Lee who wants to let everyone know about the Ford Detroit International Jazz Fest and The Second Annual Heineken Jazz Fest Star Quest. The Ford Detroit International Jazz Festival will be searching for new American jazz idols during the Heineken Jazz Fest Star Quest competition to be held August 11 at Bert's On Broadway and August 18 at the Music Menu Café. The finals will take place at Baker's Keyboard Lounge on August 25. The competitions begin at 7 p.m. on all dates.

The winning band will win a slot and the accompanying $500 payment at the 2003 Ford Detroit International Jazz Festival. The festival will run Labor Day weekend, August 30 through September 1. Last year's winners of the Heineken Jazz Fest Star Quest was the Chandler Dobbins Group. Groups must be new, emerging jazz talent. No solo acts will be part of the competition.
